================================================

She balanced a diamond on a blade of grass,
She made everything sparkle and shine.

Tom Waites, Bottom of the World

And I'm lost
And I'm lost
I'm lost at the bottom of the world
I'm handcuffed to the bishop and the barbershop liar
I'm lost at the bottom of the world.

Well God's green hair is where I slept last
He balanced a diamond on a blade of grass
Now I woke me up with a cardinal bird
And when I wanna talk
He hangs on every word

And I'm lost
And I'm lost
I'm lost at the bottom of the world
I'm handcuffed to the bishop and the barbershop liar
I'm lost at the bottom of the world

Diamonds Everywhere

Diamonds in skies,
diamonds on souls of shoes,
diamonds on blades
of green green grasses,
in my eyes and heart, my heart,
slicing my heart til it aches
and I wake up then
with this real bad ache
and call them up...

they say come on in.
My heart
removed, replaced with
stainless steel strapping
and bitter powders.

diamond you are...yes indeed;
nice lyrics and a sweet variation on a theme...
and, I quite like how you work with words and shapes to convey both image and mood...nicely done

I wonder at the weight of the dew as it bends the grass blade.

diamonds on a blade of grass
remind me of children smiling
telling me, all is not lost
hope there is, still

diamonds on a blade of grass
speak to me of riches infinite
neglected in this fleeting world
but believe me, hope there is, still

Hi Christopher...

thanks for this poem... after your recent experience I can see where some of the imagery in this comes from... hope you're feeling better these last few days and thanks for stopping by

Harle,

you know how interested I am in form and shape of words and ideas... wonder how the two can work together... how series of forms or words might tell a story... there's gotta be a story there somewhere...

Walking man,

was it dew or was it a breeze... does it rustle or drip..

adee,

been a while... nice to hear from you again... I like how you've crafted these lines... especially the slant rhyme in the first stanza and how you've left the word "still" on its own, punctuated softly and made to pause... thanks for this
