Reckless Burning

When I look back I see flames licking up into the night, stretching behind me for years and years like a string of watchtowers -- places where a phoenix came to rest and thought for a moment of going to sleep. I'm in a park collecting kindling and leaves, but they're still too damp from winter to take my spark, and so I throw in some books, some words I've held for too long, all dried up, because I'm tired of making a pyre of other peoples hearts. I want to walk in the daylight again, where I don't need reckless fires to show where I've been.

this post is doing that thing to me..that magical word thing...where it feels like home, but with different furniture or something...

its a good thing, I just don't know how to say something about.

all that comes to mind is, thank you.

Um, I don't look back at burned bridges, the future is in front of me even though I know not what it will be. Other than an interesting journey.

I walked to the beach yesterday, it's a peaceful place to ponder. Soon I will start getting out camping again. Get away from the city monkeys.

Hopper, love your words. I just let them sink in and my mind comes up with the most interesting, beautiful images:)

And: I love this graffity you found, did you take the picture? I never saw such an elegant graff here in Paris:) Normally they are all rather rebellous, I mean with the same kind of typo etc.

This one makes a mixture of Cruella de Vil and Miss Doodle, I just love it.
And the cat talk, :)
Is that Cinnamon? She could be my cat Oscar's sister.

Thanks for everything,
have a good weekend, seeing a beautiful world
Andrea

fern... thanks a lot... i do try to emote... i hope to share not just words but feeling

FY... i'm trying real hard not to look back... there is really nothing there of any use...

BBC... i'm guessing you're in california or somewhere warm... still a bit chilly here in canada for beaches... so jealous of you... wish i could go to the coast so easily...

suki... actually i can't take credit for this pic... it was part of a graffiti mural i was photographing... the artist had mixed photos with paint... this one was actually framed and all (real wooden frame)... not your typical big city graffiti... just the kind i love to find...

and thanks andrea... i really miss that little cat... that project was sort of an experiment that never turned into anything... i think i'll use that site to keep photos and whatnots from now on... anyone who is lost in this conversation train:

Awesome!
both the words and the picture...
talking of transformation...

i love the way a cluster of related images in this piece talk about one thing: the fire that transforms us through burning... purification...
phoenix is the epitome of this transformational burning...
pyre reminds us of the bruning ceremony of the dead...another transformation...
and the persona doesn't want any fire or burning anymore to show himself... he wants to walk in the daylight.... this is another transformation... night into day...
and how a day is brightened up? by the sun burning... another fire...

this piece is like one of those big dreams implying a deep change inside...
a great sequel to the previous post... that love is not lost; it is changing the persona into a sun...

really enjoyed reading and pondering on it...

The trick is to get to the point where you can look back and warm your heart and hands in the fire but not get burnt.

Hi Hopper, love your site, glad I found it.
The shadow on the bridge looks like past (tyre marks?), is present and will be future when the sun hits it again.
Goes well with your prose.

each line a story
your his...story
all those dried up words
all those burnt out hearts
daylight again
fresh air
becoming free

I love the shadow lines down the path way in the photo too.

very sincere words here ... you don't even need the daylight - as you know, my favorite documentary reminds us that there's a spark within each of us that can lead the way ... we just have to let it shine ...
